Services
Sandia Hearing Centers offers several services to the Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas area. Hearing assessments allow the Hearing Aid Specialist to determine the type of hearing loss that is present. A session between you and the Hearing Aid Specialist will determine the best type of hearing instrument to fit your needs. Silicone impressions are often taken of the ear to make sure your hearing instrument is a perfect fit. After a few short days, your hearing instruments will arrive from the laboratory and you will be able to attend your hearing instrument fitting. We believe that your hearing instrument is an investment and we will show you how to care for that investment. In order to help you maintain such an investment we have an in-house laboratory where cleanings and repairs can be done quickly and easily.
What Should I Expect?
Hearing assessments are the first step in
accepting that you may have a permanent hearing problem. Only a simple screening is required, like getting tested for diabetes or having your blood pressure checked. It is critical to bring someone to your assessment that has a familiar voice. Together, you and the Hearing Aid Specialist will complete the assessment and determine your type of hearing loss.
Heari
ng instruments are like people, they come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Hearing instruments also vary greatly in price. This is due to the fact that people and their hearing loss are unique. Frequencies, styles and features all determine the price of your instrument. Your Hearing Aid Specialist will work closely with you to determine the best instrument for you.
Silicone ear im
pressions are simply a cast or mold of your inner ear. Sandia Hearing Centers wants to make sure that your hearing instrument fits comfortably and correctly. A small amount of silicone is inserted into your ear and takes only a few minutes to dry. Once it is dry, the Hearing Aid Specialist removes the impression and prepares it to be sent to the laboratory.
Your fitting appointment will take place after your brand
new hearing instrument arrives at our center. At your appointment, the Hearing Aid Specialist will ensure that your aid fits and is working properly. You will be counseled on the maintenance of your instrument. You will also receive information about becoming accustomed to your new instrument. Time and patience are often required to adapt to the new change.
An in-house r
epair laboratory is available if a problem should arise with your hearing instrument. Our Hearing Aid Specialists are able to repair most instruments in our own laboratory. An in-house laboratory also allows us to assist with other maintenance and the cleaning of your hearing instrument.
