About Us
Sandia Hearing Aids was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1958 by the late Bob Handy and Eldon Coffman. These two beloved hearing aid dealers traveled the state through the 1960's fitting body worn hearing aids until the advent of modern ear-level worn devices. They founded a solid tradition of 'people first' while effectively fitting the best technologies of their time. They retired in the early '80's and passed the torch to another well respected New Mexico hearing aid family.
The practice was expanded in the 1980's to include full time locations in West Texas, Southern Colorado and Arizona. Traditionally, each full-time office was managed by a member of the local healthcare community and the practice thrived.
In the early 1990's Wesley Miller BC-HIS, ACA opened the Roswell office, establishing permanent service for the Southeastern region of the state. He eventually purchased the territory and slightly modified the name to Sandia Hearing Centers to reflect the expanded responsibilities of a modern hearing company.
Over the last two decades Wesley and his family have helped thousands of hard of hearing people in Southeastern New Mexico by applying the best technology and education. Through his leadership, Sandia has become an established advocate for the hard of hearing and is recognized nationally as the premier hearing company in the region.
Now, into the 21st century, Sandia Hearing Centers continues the tradition the founders began in Albuquerque so many years ago, they properly fit the latest technologies but keep in mind, 'people first'.
